Gold finger connectors use a circuit board of gold fingers and flexible reed socket with the structure of the form, through plugging and unplugging to achieve connection or disconnection. In the process of plugging and unplugging, the contact interface of the gold finger connector is equivalent to a sliding contact sub, there are problems of sliding wear and material corrosion. Because of the need to increase the current capacity of the gold finger connector, the contact still has the problem of temperature rise and heat generation. Therefore, the sliding electrical contact characteristics, wear resistance and environmental reliability of the supporting materials of the gold finger connector put forward new requirements.
Abstract:With the expansion of gold finger connectors as the background, the sliding electrical contact characteristics and environmental corrosion resistance of contacting subsets are studied according to the contact surface material, plating thickness, contact pressure and ambient temperature of common connectors, and material selection suggestions are provided for practical applications. The contact resistance of contact-sliding electrical contact process is examined by sliding simulation experimental system, and wear detection is performed by non-contact 3D morphometer. Orthogonal tests are designed to investigate the effects of contact-to-contact and sample plating, plating thickness, sliding period, contact pressure and ambient temperature on the sliding contact resistance and sliding wear degree. Finally, the environmental reliability of each contact combination was studied by salt spray corrosion test and sliding resistance retest.
