The common usage types of electrical connectors are reviewed

2022 12/21

Electrical connector is a very critical component in electronic equipment. The type of electrical connector varies according to the application it serves. No matter what type of electrical connector is, it has a universal performance, which is reliable, durable and easy to assemble. Today, let's take stock of the electrical connector types that we usually use.

1. 8P8C connector:

The name of the 8P8C connector comes from the phrase "eight positions, eight conductors". As the name suggests, this small connector has eight possible positions, each with a corresponding conductor. It is a modular connector originally intended for telephone line applications, but can also be used for a variety of other functions, such as Ethernet jacks. Modular connectors of all four sizes are named according to the location and number of conductors they have and include sizes 4-, 6-, 8-, and 10-. For example, 10P8C would have 10 locations and 8 conductors. 8P8C connectors are also used in computer applications and communication cables.

2. Class D miniature connector:

Very similar to 8P8C connectors, D-subminiature connectors are typically used for computer applications, but in different capacities: they are used as key ports (RS232) on modems. Despite the term "subminiature," D-subminiature connectors are now relatively large compared to other, more modern computer connectors.

3, DC connector:

Direct current (DC) connectors provide direct current for a given application, so they must be used carefully to ensure equipment is not damaged. Common types of DC connectors include DC plugs and coaxial DC power connectors, which connect devices to power supplies.

4. USB connector:

Universal Serial Bus connectors are small interface devices that can be used to connect more than 127 devices to a computer. Standard laptops typically have at least two USB ports to support external connections via USB connectors, while standard desktop computers have four USB ports.

No matter what type of electrical connector, it must meet the basic requirements of good contact, easy maintenance and reliable operation.
